A Liberal Democrat government would spend £100 billion on tackling climate emergency

December 6, 2019 4:01 PM

Jules Green Lib DemsThe Liberal Democrats have the most comprehensive set of plans to tackle the Climate Crisis. This policy, agreed recently by the party, commits us to urgent action to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases of all kinds within the life of the next parliament - the one you are voting for now!

Our ambitious programme to tackle the climate emergency across a 5 year Parliament would involve spending and investing an extra £100 billion of public finance on climate action and environmental preservation.

This includes a £5bn flood prevention and adaptation fund. Here in Suffolk, for the people who live or own businesses close to the Alde and Ore estuary, this fund could provide valuable investment to upgrade and maintain flood defences, protecting life and property as well as preserving important wildlife habitats.
